Granite is a very hard, igneous stone formed out of volcanic activity. As magma from the volcanoes cooled very slowly (over millions of years!) mineral crystals in the magma deposits grew. Those minerals - primarily hornblende, feldspar, mica and quartz - are what give the granite its grainy texture. When the softer earth around the resulting granite deposit eroded, the harder rock became exposed, making it available for quarrying in nearly every region of the world
Granite is the most scratch resistant counter top in the industry today, with granite you no longer have the need for cutting boards to protect your counter tops
Granite is also heat resistant, thus relieving the need for hot pads, you can transfer hot pots or dishes directly from your stove top or oven onto your counter top
According to the Marble Institute of America, natural stone countertops and stainless steel counter tops are the most antibacterial counter top surfaces
Installation of Granite will double in investment value. (i.e. $1,000 in granite will yield a $2,000 return in appraised value)
Granite surfaces MUST be resealed every 1-3 years depending on the color
Once professionally sealed by installers, Quartz surfaces DO NOT require resealing
Marble is a more porous surface than Granite, thus requiring more frequent sealing
