Now that your installation is complete and with a little annual maintenance, you’re ready to enjoy your new stone countertops for years to come.
Depending on your stone, you should reseal your stone countertops annually to prevent staining. Lighter, more porous stone may require resealing more often than darker, denser stones.
For daily cleaning, warm water and dish soap is appropriate. A natural stone cleaner is recommended for a weekly cleaning. Refrain from using harsh abrasives and window cleaners on your natural stone.
We carry products for resealing and cleaning your new countertops. They may be purchased at our location or over the phone. We also offer a yearly resealing service and a 15-year warranty sealer.
Natural Stone
Clean surfaces with dish soap and water.
Rinse and dry after cleaning.
Blot up spills immediately.
Reapply water-based stone sealer every 6-12 months.
Do not use abrasive cleansers like Comet, Ajax, Soft Scrub.
Do not use cleansers that contain vinegar, lemon juice, or ammonia.
Do not put hot pots and pans directly on stone countertops; always use a trivet or hot pad.
Do not sit or stand on stone countertops.
Natural Stone has imperfections that are in no way flaws in the material. Countertops are sealed at installation. The sealer should be considered a temporary barrier, allowing time to wipe up spills before they can cause stains. All natural stone is porous and must be sealed at least once a year.
Quartz
Clean surfaces with dish soap and water.
For stubborn or dried spills use a nonabrasive cleaning pad or glass cleaner.
Avoid using cleaners that contain bleach or vinegar.
Quartz can withstand some heat but is susceptible to damage from rapid temperature changes. It is important to minimize direct heat exposure to protect the countertop.
Use trivets or hot pads to protect quartz from heat when placing hot objects like pots, pans, electric fry pans, griddles, crock pots, and toaster ovens on the surface.
Do not cut directly on a quartz countertop. Use a cutting board. Although quartz is scratch resistant it can be damaged by knives.
Avoid exposing quartz countertops to strong chemicals and solvents such as paint removers or oven cleaners. Keep nail polish remover, bleach, permanent markers, and inks away from the countertop. Avoid prolonged exposure to highly alkaline cleaners. If contact occurs with any substance listed above, quickly flush the surface with water.
Do not sit or stand on quartz countertops.
We recommend sealing white quartz to provide an extra barrier against stains. A can of sealer will be provided for white quartz countertops.
