Soapstone is a metamorphic rock, comprised dominantly of talc. It is non-porous and does not require sealing like other natural stones. It is antibacterial and very heat resistant. Although soapstone scratches easily, small scratches can be sanded out with sandpaper. It can also be treated with mineral oil to evenly darken the stone.
